Benoit Gando (Laurent Lucas) is an insurance agent from France. He is happily married and a father to an eleven-year-old daughter. He has just arrived in a picturesque town located in the Canadian Shields of Northern Ontario for a conference.
When Benoit stops to pick up supplies, twenty-seven-year old rookie cop, Kate Logan (Alexis Bledel) mistakes him for a rapist. She realises her blunder and lets him go. Later that evening she shows up at his motel and offers him a drink in order to make up for her mistake. He accepts and due to her ‘innocent’ flirtations they end up sleeping together.
On a subsequent encounter, Kate shows her service revolver to Benoit, who has never handled one before. While she playfully does this, the revolver goes off and a bullet is lodged in the wall of the motel room. Fearing the loss of her job, Kate drags Benoit deeper into the affair and both are now on the run. Benoit just wants to go to the police and tell them the truth that it was just an accident. She keeps him hooked by threatening to tell his wife that they slept together. She tells him that they will come up with a better solution.
This is a familiar theme (Detour, Fatal Attraction, The Tourist etc) yet it was handled in a very original and gripping fashion. The two leads, Lucas and Bledel, possessed an on screen chemistry; kudos to Laurent Lucas for taking the challenge of doing his role in English.

Quand Benoit s'arrête pour ramasser des provisions, un jeune flic âgé de vingt-sept ans, Kate Logan (Alexis Bledel) lui prend pour un violeur. Elle réalise son erreur et le laisse partir. Plus tard dans la soirée, elle se présente à son motel et lui offre un verre pour compenser pour son erreur. Il accepte et en raison de son flirt « innocent », ils finissent par coucher ensemble.
Sur une rencontre subséquente, Kate montre son revolver de service à Benoit, qui n'a jamais géré un avant. Alors qu'elle taquine avec ceci, le revolver se déclenche et une balle est déposée dans le mur de la chambre de motel. Craignant la perte de son emploi, Kate traîne Benoit plus profondément dans l’affaire et tous deux sont maintenant en fuite. Benoit veut juste d'aller à la police et de leur dire la vérité que c’était seulement un accident. Elle lui tient accroché en menaçant de dire à son épouse qu’ils avaient dormie ensemble. Elle lui dit qu'ils vont trouver une meilleure solution.
Il s'agit d'un thème familier (Détour, Fatal Attraction, le Touriste, etc.), mais ceci a été traité de façon très originale et captivante. Les deux comédiens principaux, Lucas et Bledel, possédaient une chimie a l'écran; félicitations à Laurent Lucas en relevant le défi de faire son rôle en anglais.
