A monthly chronicle of films (features,
medium or shorts) seen throughout the current month from any source.
Commentaries will be limited to 99 words or less. Film festivals will be
hyperlinked. If time permits certain films will be elaborated on and be posted
under the label “Film Box Office” (100-399 words) or “Film Review” (400 or
more) (number of words based on English only).

this experimental film features performances by Dead Boys, Teenage Head, The
Boyfriends and The Diodes at the Crash ‘n’ Burn, Canada’s first venue to stage
punk rock concerts. It was located in Toronto.

The Green
Inferno, United States / États-Unis 2014, 100m, Eli Roth
A
group of activists, led by Alejandro, decide to travel to the Peruvian Amazon jungle
to prevent a huge conglomerate from bulldozing the rainforest and exterminating
an ancient tribe. Alejandro gets Jonah to convince Justine, whose father is an
attorney in the United Nations, to join them. The plan is to globally stream
the whole operation on the internet through their cell phones. This endeavor is
financially supported by Carlos, a Peruvian businessman. Except for a
near-fatal glitch involving Justine, their plan is successful and they board
the plane to return to the United States. Unfortunately, due to sabotage, the
plane crashes in the jungle. Many of the activists lose their lives (Carlos included)
and the survivors, including Justine, Alejandro and Jonas, are captured by the
tribal villagers they wanted to protect. Those who perished in the crash are
the ‘lucky ones’.
Warning: Contains many scenes of cannibalistic gore.
Un
groupe de militants, dirigé par Alejandro, décide
de se rendre à la jungle Amazonienne du Pérou pour empêcher un énorme conglomérat de
bulldozer la forêt tropicale et exterminer une ancienne tribu. Alejandro obtient Jonas
à convaincre Justine, dont son père est un avocat à l'ONU, à se joindre à eux. Le plan est
pour diffuser globalement l'ensemble des opérations sur l'Internet
par le biais de leurs téléphones
cellulaires. Cet effort est
soutenu financièrement par Carlos, un homme
d'affaires Péruvien. Sauf pour
un petit problème quasi-mortel
impliquant Justine, leur plan est un succès et ils montent à bord l'avion pour leur retour au États-Unis.
Malheureusement, à cause d’un sabotage, l'avion s’écrase dans
la jungle. Beaucoup des militants
perdre leur
vie (Carlos inclus) et les survivants, y compris Justine, Alejandro
et Jonas, sont capturés par les villageois
tribaux qu'ils voulaient protéger. Ceux qui ont péri dans l'accident sont les plus «chanceux».
Avertissement: Contient de nombreuses scènes gore de cannibalisme.

Scratch,
Canada 2015, 94m, Sébastien Godron
‘Scratch’ is a hip-opera that deals with
the reality of life for Haitians living in Montreal – the parents try to earn a
decent and honest living but their children get involved with illicit activities.
Angelot (Leslie) leads the hip-hop gang known as Lights and Shadows. The gang
is preparing to release their first studio album. To finance it, Angelot uses
illicit gains from his brother Frantz’s enterprise. At a prelaunch concert,
Angelot has an altercation with his rival Chucky Dee. Angelot gets shot. Now in a coma, we see flashbacks
detailing the roots of his derailment. Can he recover?
'Scratch' est un hip-opéra qui traite de la réalité de la vie pour les Haïtiens vivant à Montréal –
les parents essaient de gagner un salaire décent et honnête,
mais leurs enfants se mêlent à des activités illicites. Angelot (Leslie) mène
le gang hip-hop connu
comme Lights and
Shadows. Le
gang se prépare à sortir leur
premier album studio. Pour
le financer, Angelot utilise gains illicites
de l’entreprise de
son frère Frantz. Lors d'un concert de pré-lancement, Angelot a une altercation avec son
rival Chucky Dee. Angelot reçoit un
coup de feu. Maintenant,
dans le coma, on voit des flashbacks détaillant les racines de son déraillement. Peut-il récupérer?

After scrawling graffiti on an overpass
after midnight, Mathieu is chased by police. Only later do we understand that
his ‘stunt’ was a form of self-expression.
Après griffonner des graffitis sur un viaduc après minuit, Mathieu est
pourchassé par la police. Seulement
plus tard, comprenons-nous que son «coup» était une forme d'expression de soi.
